poolroom Quickly became one of my most listened to albums of all time after the 1st few front-to-backs.
From artwork & song titles to sample choice & the damn beautiful mix & master across the whole thing - everything about this record is just so friggin enjoyable from macro to micro. Not to mention the illusive identity, maintaining the music itself as salient.
It feels like this record album is a relaxed smorgasbord frenzy of dollar bin digging. Candid & frisky. Favorite track: In The Middle of Upper Crema.

about

Our 4th and final isolation release is of a different kind to the previous. This week we were emailed a mysterious submission from a project called BIALETTI ESPRESSO. The artist told us that they finished the album while quarantined from COVID-19 in a Sydney hotel, after returning from Europe... maybe from Bialetti's home country but we can’t be sure.

The album is called ‘Drip Coffee’ and it’s a 10 track collection of espresso sized instrumentals, just shy of 15 minutes listening. With a heavy focus on percussion and rhythm, the songs blend vast influences from Bossa Nova and Afro-beat, to Free Timing ‘Jazz’ and various forms of folk and blues music. The album features a collage of audio samples and what sounds like personal recordings by Bialetti Espresso themselves. Maybe this will help us piece this puzzle together?

Bialetti Espresso show us various energies and moods, occasionally a poly rhythm will provide a bed for a groove to develop and warm before the song reaches an end. We are also given some slower more emotive pieces, perhaps written in the evening when the effects of espresso grows weak.

This incredible collection of sounds is well worth your listening, best served with a hot cup of coffee. For maximum effect: drink one espresso shot per song.
